STUCCO

All Kickerillo homes are constructed utilizing a concrete stucco process, not synthetic stucco. The finished stucco construction is 3/4 to 1 inch in thickness with a #3 sand finish, galvanized trim and two coats of elastomeric paint. There are four layers of support structure built up under the stucco to give it strength and moisture barrier.

The Eight Steps of a Kickerillo Stucco Exterior Wall
1. The exterior is clad with a 15/32 plywood.
2. Two Layers of Grade D pony paper are attached to form a moisture barrier.
3. To anchor the first layer of stucco, galvanized wire mesh is attached.
Galvanized corner beads, plaster stops and zinc expansion joints are installed per the individual house plans.
4. A scratch coat of stucco is then applied.  This coat consists of one part masonry cement, one part Portland cement and two parts of torpedo sand with chopped fibers.  All of the coats of stucco are applied by hand and are not sprayed on.
5. A second coat of stucco is then applied.
6. A finish coat of stucco is applied.  This coat consists of one part masonry cement, one part Portland cement, two parts #3 blasting sand and one-half part finishing lime.  Each coat of stucco is approximately 1/4" thick so the total coating is 3/4" to 1" thick.
7. All angles, trim and windows are caulked. The house is then painted with elastomeric paint containing an anti-fungus compound.
8. A second coat of elastomeric paint with anti-fungus compound is applied.
